A sideline?

Mask making means fabric.  Fabric means leftovers. I decided to put the scraps to good use and made some dog bandanas.

Squares cut, fold in half diagonally and press.  Open again and draw in the edges to the folded line. Press then backstitch along the folded in right angles.

Fold again and press.

Sew along the cut edges. Do not sew along the aready turned in edges as this creates the opening for the collar. 

Turn right side out and press.

Draw a line along what will become the bottom of the collar section and backstitch this line.

Not cross stitch or hardanger...

...but important enough.

It was difficult to find flat elastic so to begin with, I made masks using thick round elastic. I guess everyone and her sister are buying it at the moment!

I shared with a friend who gave me a few tips and we altered the design.

And I managed to find enough flat elastic for some more masks.

These are for work colleagues as we are required to wear our own masks until we get into our offices (and on leaving and during our lunchtime walk), whereby we have to don surgical masks supplied by the hospital I work for.

Angel part 2

While all the stitching had been done on the second Angel picture, lockdown occurred before I could purchase any more green mount board.

Now non-essential shops are open, I was able to nip to the craft shop, pick up some board and have her framed at last.

New Start

April Fool's Day.  

If only this Covid-19 was a joke.  Thankfully I am not in full lockdown as I work in the NHS but I am on annual leave currently, so other than walking Ellie, I am subject to the standard guidelines. 

Today I started a new project. 

This is another Harry Potter design but it doesn't have a title.  I purchased it from a company called PC Stitch on Etsy. 

Fittingly, I am watching the Harry Potter movies this week.

Angel finish

I can share this now it has been received. 

The one above is now framed.  It was stitched as a gift for my mother-in-law who walked Angel (and Ellie) every day during the week.  Angel also spent a week every summer at the beach with my inlaws.  Her favourite place was the beach; she would play happily in the waves all day if you could allow it.  In fact most of her ashes were scattered there so now she can.

When my mother-in-law found out I was stitching a picture of Angel, she asked if I could make her one.

So I stitched this second one for me. 

I still have a large hole in my life and not a day goes by without me thinking about her.  I think I was incredibly lucky to be a part of her life.
