Further progress.

A stitchy day with my lovely Hardanger designer friend Colly resulted in a further page finish.

Back up to speed

After my mishap earlier this week, I've managed to restitch the correct page.

Arrival of the frogs

I had a day off this week and once all the boring housework was done I sat down with a nice cup of tea and finished stitching the next page.  I then laid the fabric out to take a photo and to my dismay discovered I had stitched the wrong page!

I spent the remainder of Wednesday, into the evening, and all the following evening carefully unpicking it.

For those who don't understand the title, let me explain.  The 'rrribbit' sound a frog makes is akin to 'rip it rip it' of unpicking threads stitched incorrectly...hence the term frogging or having the dreaded frogs visit.

A quick going over with masking tape to remove the fluffy bits left behind, and I'm ready to stitch the correct page.

Lesson learned - double check you're working from the correct page and maybe look at your project more often.

Hogwarts Castle update

The castle takes a bit longer to stitch than the sky with so many colour changes, some extremely subtle, but they make all the difference.

Smoking needles!

Ok so we had a Bank Holiday weekend with glorious sunshine, so where better to stitch?

And complete another page.

Most of it was in shades of blue which helped with the speed.

The next page finish

With a little help from the movies of Harry Potter playing in the background.

First page finish

A week's holiday can make quite an impact, giving one time to spend with needle and thread.

A new start

This year sees the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, a series which has sold around 450 million copies in 29 languages and then led to a movie franchise worth more than £5 billion.

Staying therefore with the Magical World,  it is a natural progression for me to take on a project I've been eyeing up for some time.

Hogwarts Castle.

I do hope the finished product will live up to the photograph.

There are 35 pages and 47 colours.

Shouldn't take long....

Another magical creature.

This time Pickett the Bowtruckle

And for anyone who knows him, below is Dougal the Demiguise...

Historic events are never forgotten

And neither are great teachers of history.

It is with great sadness that my youngest son bids farewell to his favourite teacher who is moving on to pastures new.

Quick stitch

It's not a secret, we're all huge fans of The Wizarding World created by JK Rowling.

This is a little chap is called a Niffler.

"Fluffy, black, and long-snouted, this burrowing creature has a predilection for anything glittery.....they are often kept by goblins to burrow deep into the earth for treasure."

Butterfly Heart

I'm happy to have completed this.  It's quite unusual for my normal style of stitching but it's good to step outside the boundaries occasionally.

Now to find a large enough frame!

Slowly.

It's taken quite a while to finish this page. Heat and stitching doesn't seem to mix for me.

A Happy Dance

I stayed up a wee bit later than usual last night to put in the final few stitches.

Of course it needs pressing and framing and better light of course for a photo, but I couldn't wait to upload it.

Ringing the changes

Time to switch projects again.

Butterfly Heart update

It's been a while since I've had a page finish in pink.  However, since I've had a couple of days off work to care for my younger son who had surgery at the weekend, it would be foolish not to use the time wisely.

The surgery went well and he's recuperating nicely.

First update of 2017!

It's a third of the way done now so should be finished in time for Christmas 2017.
