Angel part 2

While all the stitching had been done on the second Angel picture, lockdown occurred before I could purchase any more green mount board.

Now non-essential shops are open, I was able to nip to the craft shop, pick up some board and have her framed at last.

Angel finish

I can share this now it has been received.

The one above is now framed.  It was stitched as a gift for my mother-in-law who walked Angel (and Ellie) every day during the week.  Angel also spent a week every summer at the beach with my inlaws.  Her favourite place was the beach; she would play happily in the waves all day if you could allow it.  In fact most of her ashes were scattered there so now she can.

When my mother-in-law found out I was stitching a picture of Angel, she asked if I could make her one.

So I stitched this second one for me.

I still have a large hole in my life and not a day goes by without me thinking about her.  I think I was incredibly lucky to be a part of her life.

Halfway mark.

Ok so it's only a partial page but a page finish is a page finish.

Angel

Page 1 finished.

I'm stitching this 1 over 1 on evenweave.  We couldn't find a good enough likeness on the internet to our beautiful red border collie so we had a photo conversion made by DMC.  So far so good, although it seems a little darker so the chestnut colouring may not quite shine through.

Wind the bobbin up....

I was recently gifted a beautiful selection of threads for my hardanger.

Each of the DMC and Anchor pearl threads now has a home in this handy storage container along with the threads I started with.

A gorgeous wooden box was also gifted which contained a selection of Caron and Needlepoint threads.  I have spent the last couple of weeks winding my own Caron threads onto bobbins to join them.

I've also reorganised my box of freebie cover kits and given most of them away.  All that is left to sort is the two cabinets and an old tea chest...

The Gift of Stitching

My lovely husband bought me the new threads from DMC for Christmas.

35 new shades.

I find it quite therapeutic to wind each skein of thread onto a bobbin.

All ready to add to the other DMC colours I have collected over the past oooh almost 30 years!  I have all the main colours and Special Effects skeins, most of the variegated threads a handful of the silks.  Not that I'm addicted you understand.  There are worse vices!
